I never really kept up with the iPods and their technology. I bought it in April for it's MP3 capability. Then my Sirius receiver died on me and I upgraded to a Stilleto receiver and that has MP3 capability so the iPod is now redundant for me. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the iPods are up to 3rd gen now. This one takes pictures, has built in wifi and of course plays music AND videos. You can also check your e-mail on the run through the wifi. That is probably the biggest feature that I found useful after the MP3 capability.
