I recently bought a 97 F150 4x4, 4.2 with 37000 miles.It runs great but with 1 problem. When it is cold and raining or snowing, the engine taps when you first start it then it runs fine. Sort of like tap tap tappity tap. Any help would be appretiated.

Check the oil level. They engine takes 6 quarts.

 

Thanks for the reply Matt90GT but did that and oil level is good. Read about a belt problem here. Could that be it?
