I recently purchased a 98'STX 4.2L. Only problem is the lack of power. Will a flowmwster, K&N filter charger and low drag pullys help the performance or will it be a waste of money?

Welcome to the board Big ED i have the same truck and yes the K&N filter will help and a catback exhaust will help to. I don't have the pulleys i'm thinking about them but have heard some people having overheating problems if the truck sits in traffic. I went with the Gibson Side swept it increases low end torque and low to mid range acceleration. It doesn't change the sound of the exhaust much just a little different pitch, i like it alot because it isn't loud a V6 with duals sounds sick in my opinion but some people like it. You need to look into a Superchip go to the Computer Chip section and read up on it. The chip gives horsepower increases 25 and torque increases 31. It also gives power where the 4.2 needs it below 2500 RPMs so check around alot of good info on these boards also check out the V6Engines section alot of guys over ther have some great ideas. Good luck!
