Another blown plug

ive been reading a bunch of old threads about the plugs blowing out and mine did and i bought a new one and put it in, then it blew out again. Now i have a few questions, my threads seemed to be fine, and it screwed in nice and tight, would it do this if the threads were screwed up, i didnt think so. i found some threads that talked about the time-sert kit and would i have to use this if the plug still threads in, or how would i know. I didnt even know this could happen, my dad and all ppl who know anything have never heard of this, but from research i see plunty of ppl have. Also my second question is did anybody every get ford to acknowldge the problem, also if anybody has the kit around the southeast michigan area. I live in Port Huron, MI but will drive a some way to get somebody to let me rent the kit if i needed. ANy help would be appreciated, i drive a 2000 4.6l supercab 4x4, thanks

The plug blow-out problem is the with 5.4's, not the 4.6's.

It happens on the 4.6l, but it is nowhere near as common as it is on the 5.4L engines.

Its actually really common on the 4.6's. We see plenty of crown vics thru the auction with blown plugs.

Its funny to see the people bid not knowing what the fix involves.

TimeSert's BigSert kit is the preferred method around here.

It is usually followed with a loud "bang", and you will pull over obviously because your truck will be misfiring. You then pop the hood to examine your engine, and you usually find the spark plug laying in the engine compartment.

from my research the 5.4L are more common due to the extra compression than the 4.6L. But it happens to both. Just my 2 cents

No, the 5.4 does it more because there are only 3 - 4 threads holding the spark plug in.

Just FYI, the 5.4 and 4.6 both use the same head. That kind of blows your theory Zaairman

Both of them have the same # of threads, at least, until '03.
