Custom mod. USB charger. In need of a little help!
Howdy folks,
Working on one of my many custom mod's that I was "fixin to" do sometime last year. What I'm doing is removing the useless Coin holder in the dash, and replacing it with a dual USB charger. For cell phone etc..
I purchased this..

My question is how to hook it up. I don't really like messing with the electrical stuff .
I already have an extra cigarette lighter wire connector from an existing mod...
Would it be as easy as just taking those 2 wires and connecting them to the positive and negative connectors on the back of the USB?
Or what about this. This was plugged into the back of the, now removed, coin holder.
WTF?!?
Would it be possible to make use of that to connect to the back of the USB charger?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Rob

Hey Pat,
Having a little bit of an issue. I wanted to run a test, to see if it would work like I hoped, before taking the dremel to the coin holder. I thought this connection would be a "dead" source unless the key was ON. But it is not. Charger lights up and charges even with no key .
Any ideas? How can I disable the power to this unless the key is ON?
Thanks,
Rob

Use an Add-A-fuse to the Radio fuse in the panel under the right--side footwell kick panel - see Owner Guide for fuse #.
This will give you a switched source in Start& Run position to trigger the relay.
Then just use a standard Bosch ISO relay - AutoZone, Napa, O'Reilly's, Advanced, etc.
Looks like this:

EDIT: Any chance yall kin resize the pitcher? Scrolling is a real biotch - thanks
