2000 f150 V6 starter issues

My 2000 f150 V6 has just aout 400,000 kms on it and it has let me down for the first time!

My truck will not start.
I put the key in the ignition, turn it and all the guages swing back and forth, then settle with the chimes going and all warning lights illuminated.

I have a strong battery and good clean connections.

I'm thinking ignition switch?

Thanks in advance
Mike

More likely a bad battery cable or connection. You need to get out a meter and test them, not guess.

Like project said. You need to use your multimeter. Do a drop test across the battery Check potential, Then continuity test.

Thanks for your help. I put a meter on battery 12.4 volts connections good I even get same voltage at starter and starter relay.
The guages still swing back and forth once when I initially turn the key, the attery light does stay on. No clicking or any noise from starter.

Google 'Voltage drop test'

You have to test them under load.
