Fuse box / hardwire radar detector. Help a n00b out!
Hardwiring my radar detector has been something I've been wanting to do for a looong time, but finally got around to it today. Combined by my confusion and well... I'm fat so getting around on the floor board and fuse box is a job in it self . So I gave up for today.
Anyway, I purchased little hardwire kit made specifically for my radar. Got everything removed to have decent access to the fuse box. Found the fuse ( #31. the radio ). But I don't understand how to attach the wire to that fuse. .
Do I need to remove the fuse box completely and attach it to the back somewhere? Saw somewhere online where they just removed the fuse and stuck the wire in( the fuse "slot" ) and replaced the fuse.
So, I get a little nervous when messing with the electrical stuff. Somebody help me out here? I've looked online and not really found anything. A diagram of how to do it would be Great!
Thanks,
Rob

Get a buddy / friend / acquaintance / brother-inlaw who has a voltmeter - and knows how to use it - and try it again. If it's installed backwards, it won't work right. The voltmeter will help in determining the proper orientation. Make sure you have at least a 6-pack of that person's favorite adult beverage on-hand for the project.

Thanks for the info. I've asked family members( 2 of which work/had worked on cars for a living) for help but they declined.
When I tried the add a fuse, I switched them around and tried different things, the Radar detector always came on. Even without the key. Maybe I'm trying the wrong fuse? The right fuse(radio) is #31 correct?

The add a fuse worked perfect for me. Sounds like you just need to choose a correct accessory delay slot.

The radio fuse is the power for the headunit. It is remotely switched through the ignition switch.
Where are you wanting to put the radar? On top of the dash or on top of window?
If you're wanting top of window, and have an overhead console, that's the easiest way to install.
Shoot me a PM if you're needing some local help with it.
