Dash/gage problem 2006 XLT

Hello all. I have a problem with my gages on my truck. Ill be driving down the road and all of a sudden all my gages will go to zero, just like if the truck was off and you turned the key to the on position. i think the dome light comes on too. Sometimes my trip meter will reset. The wierd thing is is if i hit the dash above the steering wheel, everything comes back on. Im thinking bad connection, but just wonder if anyone else has this problem. It was happening about once a week but now is getting more frequent. I called my Ford dealership and they havent seen this problem. Any advivce would be appreciated!

Try an advance search for cluster for the member code58.

He had a similar issue, but I am not sure what the solution was, he said it was rather involved to post ??

Maybe add on to one of the thread he is talking about the description, to see if he has some info for you.

try checking the fuses in the cab. otherwise it sounds like a loose connection somewhere. that means dash tear apart.

Fireman, I've been down this road and had success. I was going to post this evening but time has gotten away from me and I need to condense the "book" so will try to do it tomorrow some time. It's not an easy fix unless money is free, and you can just let the dealer deal with the whole thing as well as reprogramming the miles. A new cluster will solve the problem but I didn't go that way.

I would really appreciate any help you could give me. Last night it was really wierd, the gages were bouncing off zero when i first started it and the words "sweep gages" were on the display. I pushed the reset button and it went through a bunch of codes untill it got back to the odometer. Now its been good for today, not sure how long that will last.

Sorry Fireman, been a tough day. I promise I'll get it posted tomorrow (Sun.). I have to try and condense the important parts so that it doesn't end up a "book" that I have PM'd (e-mailed) to a couple or 3 others. I have not personally read about anyone else who has had success (1 response, no success and 1 other, no follow up response) but I did persevere till I had success. Spent a little time in the funny farm afterwards, but success has a price.

Tomorrow, Roger

I've contacted "Fireman" directly and when I get a chance I'll post a condensed version here for future troublemakers... er, I guess that would be people with cluster troubles. Yep, it did about drive me around the bend but that has been a long time ago and I've recovered, specially since my cluster isn't going nuts, or driving me there either.
