Outside Temperature Sensor - Where is it located?
Just curious, where is the outside temperature sensor located. I can't visualize a sensor that is accurate and not affected by the body temp of the vehicle etc.

I've noticed it's not accurate, well at least it's not displaying ambient air temp, when it's been sitting in the hot sun. I've seen it read 98 degrees, then pull it out and drive it down the road and it will drop 10 degs. But other than that, it's always been within 1 degree F of every bank sign or radio broadcast. I like it, when I'm on the highway in traffic with the A/C kickin.. I can look up at the triple digits and think about the poor souls with out A/C.

I noticed my outside temperature reading was a bit high...127 degrees when I first started the truck! I started down the road..and it had dropped to 122. A few miles after that..it read 92 degrees...which is about right for today.

It is located on the frame of the truck just behind the front bumper on the drivers side.

My display always shows (Or atleast most of the time) a temperature that is like 10-20 degrees warmer than what it really is outside, sometimes even more. Does anyone know if that would be a bad sensor or any suggestion as to why it would be doing that? Also, if it is a bad sensor would you have a guess how much it would be for a new one or if I should be looking for one in a junk yard, I'm guessing it'd probably just be something that can be disconnected and reconnected. Thank you for any help!

Info for 2000 f-150
An update to this issue. I have a 2000 f-150 where the temp. indicated 10-15 degrees warmer than it was outside (I live in Northern MI and I think the truck just refused to believe what the real temp. was).
I found the air sensor probe located in front of the radiator on the drivers side. You will probably need to replace the 8 plastic retainers for the plastic cover that covers the area where the air sensor is located (about $1.10 ea from ford dealer)
I purchased a replacement air sensor from Advance Auto Parts (2/2008) for $13.98. The dealer wanted $50 for this part.
The Adavance Auto info was SKU# 5018153. Item # 77919006 (this is probably the number AA will need to look up).
The box is from BWD automotive 37-18 Northern BLVD. Long Island City NY 11101 part # WT381 779-19006
Thanks to the earlier posters for the info
