Fog light bulb replacement on 99 F-150
Does anyone know if PIAA or Hella makes replacement bulbs for 99 F-150 factory fog lights? Owners manual specs out as 9145. Bulb replacement guides in local auto stores spec them out as either H3 or 9006. I have tried to replace them with H3s but they are ever so slightly different in their fitting formations. I am trying to find a replacement bulb that will provide a higher wattage output and preferably be a Super White type of a bulb. Any insight in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

The 9006 WILL fit in the stock fog light assembly with MINOR modificatioins. Take the 9145 and the 9006 bulb. Line them both evenly, you will notice that one of the plastic tabs (three in total at the base) is slightly shorter. Take a dike or snips and just trim off the edge (about 1/4"). Be carefull when cutting, you don't want to break the plastic. I put in a pair of 80 watt Hiper Industries super white bulbs in my fog lights. Good luck.

Jupirak,
Thanks to you, I was able to replace my fog light bulbs. I purchased a set of 9005 CoolBlue from Sylvania for $13.00 a piece. I figured I will try the cheaper ones before I commit to purchasing a set of PIAAs for $66.00. Anyway, I did not need to modify mine at all. I compared the 9005s and 9145s and I did not notice any significant difference. So, they plugged right in.
Thanks again for your suggestion.

In actuality the 9005 and the 9145 use the same base. The problem with putting the 9005 in place of the 9145 is the blacktop coating on the 9145 which is designed to reduce glare. That might be a big issue when using the 9005. Also using a different light than what the reflector is designed for is illegal because of many reasons.

Hmm... I did not know about that.
Well, let's just say that's not the only illegal thing that I've done to my truck. Like, the tinted front windows, smoked cover on my headlights and the tinted tail-lights. ^_^
Let's just hope that the cops have a lot better things to do than to pull me over. (Knock on wood!)
Thanks for the info, though.
