Security Key Pad

I have a 2004 Lariat with an external security key pad. When i bought the truck i did not know the code to the keypad and never have. Is there anyway to reprogram the code with out knowing the original code?

You must have the factory code. It stays in the computer, and you can adda second code. There are 3 ways to get the factory code. There is a card that contains the 5 digit number in the manual, but that has usually been removed. Next, you can take it to a dealer and if they are nice, they will hook a computer up and read it for you. If they are not nice, they may charge about $80 for the 10 minute service. Last, the number is on a label attached to the Body Control Module. The BCM is located behind the back of the rear seat on supercrews and supercabs. You have to remove the back of the seat to get to it. I think there are instructions on how to remove the seat back, in the Articles and How To section. Hope this helps.

Oh, once you have the 5 digit factory code, you follow the instructions for entering your own 5 digit code. The security unit will then have 2 codes in it and they will both operate the system.

If you have a standard cab, the BSM/VSM is under the speaker in the C-pillar by the diagrams.

I always said this would be easier to get to, until I had pulled both the rear seat and the c-pillar cover ( install the switch for the rear heated seats ).

The rear seat removal is much easier.
