Look man, everyone's gonna have their own opinions.

Personally, as someone who installs several batteries a day nearly everyday, there are only a few brands I would go with.

Sears DieHard batteries are among the best made. I have a DieHard Gold in my truck at the moment, but the Platinums are rediculously strong, long-lasting batteries with an incredible warranty. I'd go for the Platinum.

No offense to you Optima fans, but in my experience, Optima batteries are complete crap. They are constantly returning for warranty adjustments, so much in fact that Sears discontinued carrying them.

Duralast batteries from AutoZone are also very high quality batteries. They are powerful and have a high CCA with a good warranty.

Check into those two brands. They will give you plenty of power and reliability with a good warranty.

Stay away from ACDelco (never seen one in a Ford anyway), Ever-Start (Wal-Mart), and AutoCraft (Advance Auto Parts).

Granted, I have never had any experience with these other brands mentioned (such as Kinetic or something), so I cannot say anything about them.

Also, you should not have to do anything with your alternator.
