Amber fog bulbs

Anyone found any GOOD amber bulbs to go in their OEM fog lamps?? In my old age I can just see much better with ambers and I don't want to bolt on another set of fogs........

HID's are out of the question for me due to the cost/need factor. That would make about as much sense for my needs as a set of bling-bling spinners.

Hoen makes an all weather H10/9145 bulb for the fog lamps.
http://www.hoen-usa.com/weather.htm

I tried them, as they advertise the the look of the Ion Crystal , like the PIAA fog lamps.

They do have the Ion Crystal color on the ground, but the light is more focused in a tighter pattern then the stock bulb. ( pass side is the H10 all weather bulb, driver's side stock 9140 bulb )

Floor is a bit dirty, but you can see the color difference on the ground :

Hoen also makes a more yellow bulb then the all weathers, the Endurance bulb
http://www.hoen-usa.com/endurance.htm

I did not try these, so I cannot say what they look like.

I got rid of the Hoen H10 all weather fogs, and went with a set of Silverstar 9145 bulbs instead, due to the light output.

On my 2001 I had the PIAA airdam with the Crystal Ion 520 fog lamps in the outside, and that was great. But this was the light output of a 85 W bulb ( using a 55 W bulb ) and a great difference to the stock 9140 21 W bulbs, so I could not expect equal light patterns.

If you have the stock 9140 bulb installed, and just want to change the color, these would work. If you want more light output along with the color change, you might not be happy with the All weather bulb from Hoen.

Maybe installing a set of PIAA Ion Crystal Fog lamps in the 1500Xt series might do better ? These are a similar design in the 55W bulb, producing the light output of an 85W bulb ( reflector design ) to the 520s.

Either this, or maybe try a bit of customization to a PIAA airdam, and install 520s in the outside holes. The inside are setup for 510 lamps. The airdam is marked as 99 to '03, but it might work with a bit of trimming ?? Got me, never tried that. Amazon has the PIAA air dams for 205.00.

Either way good luck

Thanks guys!
SSCULLY, the Endurance bulbs say they're very yellow. The photos show them to be quite yellow when looking at them but I wonder if they project that very yellow light. Maybe someone has used them and can say. Great pics you posted too! I could use the PIAA valance since I've updated to the 99-03 nose but I can't see $200 + to get ambers.

hoya34, Thanks for the links. I've seen those on eBay too but didn't want to buy a set before getting an opinion from someone who was using them. Do they project anywhere as yellow a light as the amber lensed add-on fog lights?

Thanks for the help guys!

i have a pair of them on my 03 f-150 and the output is pretty good....

it produces a solid yellow beam, perfect for foul weather, but not too distracting for oncoming traffic......

In the rain at night is where I have trouble seeing on some of our poorly marked country roads. I may get a pair and try them out. Thanks to all for their responses and photos.
