Windshield wipers won't work.

I have an'02 F 150.A couple weeks ago my windshield wipers got stuck and would not work.I was parked and got out to shake them to see if they would come loose. When I opened the door the alarm for the keys in the ignition went off even though the keys were in my pocket.I put the keys in and turned the switch a couple times and the alarm went off and my wipers started working again.Last weekend the wipers got stuck while operating at low speed and worked a couple seconds on high speed and then not at all. They still don't work.We checked for blown fuses and cleaned the switch and still nothing.Any ideas would be greatly apprieciated. Thanks
