Ground upgrade??

I am going to be upgrading my stereo system and was reading about changing the ground wire on the Alt , starter , battery.

My question is what am I doing? Just replacing those grounds with some 0 guage wire? Is that it? Does this really help. I have an 03 Supercrew w/about 1300 watts in total power going in + new head unit .. or should I just get a cap. Some people like caps and others say they are junk .. It just baffles me and I don't want to waste my $$.

I would say go for it. The more current flow you can get in your system the better. All my years in car audio I finally stepped up and upgraded my wiring in my current truck and the difference was noticible. Although now I have a 200 amp powermaster alt and 2 batteries, which helps. But if you are running some good stuff in your truck I would say do it. Ohm out all your connections and make sure they go low. Cover your exterior grounds with some good grease and you should be good to go.
