Door open chime

New to forum and really enjoy all the Q&As I have read.
Is there a way to turn the key to aux and play radio with the doors open and not have the chimes going off?

Thanks,
Frank

Well my ignition system is a really strange one. Many many problems none of them serious problems theyre more like oddities. Anyways mine doesnt chime with the door open unless I jiggle the key and then It wont shut up so I just dont touch the key once its open. If I were you Id put a piece of tape over that pin that sticks out that tells the buzzer when to buzz

I was wondering the same thing myself. The door open/keys in the ignition chime should ring only if the key is in the off position, not the AUX position as well. It's a pain in the butt when I want to hear the music outside of my truck with the door open, or if I am sitting in a parking lot and want to have the door open and still listen to music without the stupid chime ringing.

Does anyone have any ideas other than taping the pin on the door?

Is there a fuse that can be pulled?
A wire that can be cut?

Thanks,

Ken

Well, a temporary solution is jamming the upper door latch shut with a screwdriver, and remembering to pull the door handle to unlatch it before you slam the door.

Or you can cut the wire to the key chime switch and tape it back into the harness out of the way. Or you can remove the pin at the connector at the GEM that provides the key chime signal.

You just resurrected a 3 year old thread. Did you read through it? There's ideas in there. Why not actually read them and try them, specifically post #5?

I was under my dash this weekend and saw what I suspect is the dinger/truck speaker for the random noises it makes. No sense for me to take it out as I don't mind its conveniences. It was under the dash, kind of near the flashing red light/light sensor for automatic lights. It was way up there. You can see it if looking up with the knee panel removed. I wouldn't cut it though.

The chime you are talking about is the key in Ign one correct ?

Do you want it gone for good, or able to be turned on and off ?

There is the method of putting a switch on the door latch circuit, so you can turn it off ( truck will think the door is always closed ).

Don't know which way you would rather go.

BTW : mtylerb's reply is not typical of the members here.

Lol, he's right. I'm usually a nice person, but I read the thread and saw around 3 different options in post #5.

Anywho, listen to SSCULLY, the guy has way too much electrical knowledge of these trucks. Seems to know what he's talking about.

...<snip>...
3 options, ok :

1. Trip the door latch with a screw driver

2. Cut a wire ( no indication of which one )

3. Pull a wire from the GEM. ( no indication of which one )

OK, read his post

See where kurtlandwehr has a very valid question ?

pointing him back to post #5, which caused the question in his post, is a circular definition

Just waking up, and caught this. Do you have the parking aid installed on your truck ?

This sounds vaguely familiar to the location for the speaker for the parking aid.
