Thumbs down Ford Dealers Responsiveness

My company recently decided that a truck would be a good idea for us, with yours truly being the principle user. I travel a fairly large area and need a truck to do some occassional hauling of drums of fluid, grease, or light equipment. The Ford SuperCrew was the answer.

I drew up a request for bid on our corporate letter head and faxed it to 14 different Ford Dealers in NE Tennessee, SW Va, and Western North Carolina. Response was interesting to say the least. Of 14 requests, only 8 responded, with only three giving me what I asked for. (Price, equipment and lease and financing quotes) Of those three, only two have ever called me back to check on the status of our purchase. One dealer told me outright that they would rather spend more time on customers they could "maximize return" with. They considered me a "mini" and not worth a lot of time.

Several dealers were great to work with. Found what I was looking for at Friendship Ford, Bristol, TN and they were great to deal with. Ended up buying my SCrew at invoice.

As someone who is in sales, I found it interesting that so few dealers made any attempt at following up or trying to earn my business. Yes, I am an invoice buyer, but I am a rolling billboard for the dealer and with the head turning I get with my SCrew, that is worth a lot. While I'd give the SCrew an "A", I'd give the process a weak "C".

Cool

Sounds like business as usual to me. Ha Ha. Occasionally, dealers should be reminded that who pays their salary is CUSTOMERS !
