Need to add a flareside

Moderators - We need a Flareside thread thing like the King Ranch and Lighting etc....has for us "Flaresiders" to get in touch with things we have or need since (to me) somethings are hard to get. See what you can do please. Thanks.

I don't see why this would be needed. A Flareside is just a bed choice. That's like saying we need a forum for 5.5', 6.5' and 8' beds. Or that we need separate forums for Lariat, XLT and XL. Just because the bed is different does not make anything else different.

I can see it now. There will be two threads in this forum. The first will be people asking how to remove the exterior bed tie-downs (which has been discussed numerous times in the 2004-present forum). The second will be people asking what are the best fiberglass lids that work with the tie-downs.

It is not a special edition F-150 or a new model F-150 (ScuperCrew, King Ranch, Harley, Lighting, etc.).

Good luck but I think the answer will be thanks for the input but no.

Might not be a bad idea, I would say regular cabs are a group on their own though moreso than just a bed choice. I find alot of stuff is hard to find in reg cab, short box non lightning, but rather 4x4 so any stuff and knowledge gained would benefit a select few I guess. The thrill of the chase is fun too, mostly!

BlueFlareside, I beg to differ with ya buddy. Have you ever tried to buy aftermarket stuff only to find out that its not going to work because you have a flareside?

For example: If you look for a billet aluminum gas cap door on eBay, there are a bunch of suppliers and prices are fairly reasonable...but they wont fit a '97 flareside because of the curve in the wheel well.

Like tonneau covers? Your selection and choices of hard versus soft diminish because you have a flareside.

Tool Boxes, rear tail lights.....ditto...

I dont know if we need a seperate section, although I would certainly make use of it- especially being able to bounce questions off other members since we cant pm each other on this board- when asking where to get aftermarket parts

I'm thinking it has enough merit to have it's own, like les22 said, sometimes flareside needs specific info. Just food for thaught.

I can think of about 20 parts that the flareside has that differ from the standard bed not to mention that the shape of the bed on the model that I own (2001) as well as the similar years makes it tough to find aftermarket equipment that fits properly. The way I see it the King Ranch is just an option package based on the Lariat. Why would you have a special section for that and not for a truck with different skin for more than half of it's length? Also there are only a few parts that the early SuperCrew share with the Lightning, XLT, XL, Lariat Flaresides. Also while the Lightning was the same bed design, they were not available as a 4x4 like my 2001 XLT Flareside. If you can't find justification I'm not sure what other evidence the Flareside owners in this forum need!

Get a big ole' grip on reality, folks.

there are more F-150s on the road than any other vehicle. Just because you have a different choice in the bed style or options...don't make you all that special.

You know why it's hard to find chrome doodads for a '97? The truck is 10 FREAKING YEARS OLD!!! Of course the aftermarket isn't going to make a little shiny piece that fits your OLD truck-only a small percentage of the market goes outside the newest body style. For example, did you notice there were accessories available for the new front end styled Super Duty trucks...BEFORE the trucks were on the market??? That's not done just to pi$$ you off, it's because that's where the money is.

Y'all need to grow up and realize the real world doesn't care, and neither should you!

Humm... there is a forum for the supercrew... that's just a cab choice Stealth. As for Walking it dry... My truck is only 6 years old and if you looked at the 2007 product catalogue Ford is still making a flareside model. When you both decide to get a clue I'll listen!

Yeah, but how do you upgrade the flareside bed in a way that the topic isn't already covered in another forum? Hmmmm. Seems as if I am the one who has the clue.

"Upgrade" I'm not sure that I would, for the most part my truck is fine the way it is. But a FS owner might need specific information to make a repair... For example would you know how to remove the steps from the sides??? Someone who has done it before would. That's the point that I attempting to convey.

I'm with ya kmurf77, those other guys are kinda bieng homos, relax guys, this started out as a suggestion with a few points why. Really, why is there a Lincoln Blackwood section, only now consolidated with the LT? Aren't they both refaced versions of existing trucks, how do they really differ than regular Ford's- status symbols maybe? I get sick of people sitting here with nothing better to do than contradict anything anyone says. Again, I say, sometimes things are hard to come by due to combination, not everyone has a s-cab shortbox (highly popular) or a screw. Look at my combo, tell me why I can only get an exhaust system from certain mfgr's and worse yet, they only come say single in dual out or whatever. I had to hunt down for months to get what I wanted and it's worth telling people about, so chill all you status quo owners and realize not everyone drives the exact same combo. Jag off's can be found in the "General Discussion" section, feel at home there instead of pissing people off with valid suggestions and points.

I don't understand. Must be because I have a supercrew with a 5'5" box.

I do know this, the search feature here is awesome, and it works. Have you tried it?
