I Thought This was a FORD site

Last time I checked, the name of this website was F150online.com, so can somebody please tell me why there are tons of banners advertising other brands of trucks? Can we say sellout?

Sites usually do not control what goes into their ad banner as long as the ad relates to the automotive industry. Running websites is not cheap. If you foot the bill, there is a good chance the admin will remove all ad banners

I admin a PC forum - if you buy a Premiere Member subscription for 30 bucks a year you get all pages ad-free. If you use this place without helping to pay for the upkeep, any advertising is fair game, live with it and stop bitching about it, all you are doing is wasting bandwidth and database space. If this forum instituted a similar program I'd be the first to cough up a few bucks.

In short, Ford doesn't need to advertise, especially here. If GM and faggy Jap truck brands want to throw money here to keep us loyal to Ford, that's their stick. Plus, ads are everywhere to, this site is well run in my opinion and whatever it takes to keep on keepin' on, far from me to bitch. I know what you all are saying, I hate seeing the competitor in any form, especially having worked for Ford, know what I mean?

Actually it was.
Some exciting news about F150online.com...

GLC:
It is not that advertising makes this site for us and it is now taken over by GM, Chevy, Toyota... it is us that makes this site. I think all he was saying is that ads should be focused more toward us, Ford owners.

I don't see the majority of the ads with banner blockers.

There's not a huge amount of control when Google places the ads and, as such, you will on occasion see 'other' ads. Type the words percocet or coal mining enough and ads concerning those topics at hand will generally appear. Further, they're targeted based on a number of factors. Again, in short, no one within f150online.com's management (mods, owners, admis) are going out on their own and saying..."Hmm, we could put Nissan and Toyota ads on the Ford site and make a couple of bucks...". Rather, it's a computer tracking site surfing, geography, and oodles of other 'interests' and then placing an ad in an effort to get you to click.

Can we say, 'you don't understand the process nor the expense?' See the other responses here and search around before spouting off. Being uninformed isn't an excuse for stupidity.

Servers are not free. Bandwidth is not free. Maintaining a site is not free. Forums such as this must be supported by ads if membership is free. Selling your own ads is a pain in the neck, that's why companies such as Google offer ad services. The management has little control over what Google feeds us, I think all we can do is specify no porn.

Didn't mean that I was complaining about the ads, just trying to say I think HE mean the ads are not focused toward Ford owners. I fully understand the nature of server costs and all associated with it. I am sure anything automotive will pop up here since it is an automotive forum.
