Why no avatar?
Just like the title says, just wondering why we don't have avatars. I've just been spending some time over at Hotboat, that's all. I also like how they get to make up their own titles....

I'm not the one to answer this on behalf of the site (I'm not empowered as a site owner representative on this type of question) but, based on what I've learned, it's just one more thing that would have to be regulated and could, potentially, be abused.
We've done A-O-K without them up until this point and it's one less thing that has to be monitored.
If it ain't broke...

I can't honestly say that I disagree.... but, as a moderator with NO access control to that type of thing from our 'control panel', I think it'd be a moderating nightmare...
You know... the typical buttholio that comes in, joins up, links a naked picture of his brother's third cousin twice removed that REALLY likes vegetables in places where cucumbers aren't meant to be 'stored'? It's a problem on all sites that have them and try to stay 'PG'.

Avatars = Annoying distractions that create more work for our moderators and increase page load time.

Page load time? Oh, you mean for those poor souls who are still stuck on dial up?

About 50% of our audience is still on dial-up.

Zaairman, also take note that when both the moderator and webmaster schooled you,
they did so without clicking the 'Show your signature' box.
