PM's

100 posts and 90 days before? Sorry, but to me that seems insane. Granted I'm new here, but a lot of other sites are normally post based.

Oh well, guess since I'm new, hopefully I'm not going anywhere soon

This is my only problem with this site. 100 posts is alot for a watcher like me. I would rather ask a person one on one vs starting a whole new thread. it would make more sense to set a limit on PM's per day then to have the 100/90 day thing.

Just start your own thread in the "interior care" section (or somewhere obscure) and reply to it 74 times. VIOLA! You're a senior member!

Gives them time to see if you are a keeper or a throw back.

If memory serves correct, I believe you can still e-mail the person before you have 100 posts....I know I did. Seems totally pointless to be able to send e-mail, but not a PM, but you can......assuming the correct e-mail adress is being used.

FWIW, I have sent 3 M's to different members, and never gotten a reply. So, either they are flakey members, or the PM functions are not set up correct?

FYI for 5+ years there was NO PM at all

So I would be careful about complaining about the structure the way it is. PMs have only be turned on for less than a year.

The idea is to keep the spammers and scammers at bay to make the site a better experience for the folks who use it

PMs work fine - did the person you sent to have enough posts and time since registered to be able to reply ?

you cant send them to members who dont have the privilege-so sounds like they just haven't answered you yet-
if you have a pop up blocker it blocks the notice that you have new messages from coming up so unless they regularly check to see if they have any, they may not know
