How to articles

How about adding a folder for posting "how to" articles? I think that it would be easier for the members to find the articles/post them. There are several of them out there, but they are hard to find.

We actually have a section along these lines currently...

TECHNICAL ARTICLES

It's up in the main menu bar at the very top of the f150online.com page...

We, as moderators, should help seek out EXCELLENT how-to posts so that they can, potentially, get promoted to the Technical Articles section... I'll see what I can help do with that. You're right, there are some EXCELLENT posts on our forums but, unfortunately, after a period of time, they get pushed down the list never to be seen again...

That's what I was referring to, if we could find a way to organize the system by:

1. making a folder specifically for these threads.
2. Come up with a specific Thread Title specification, (in order to find easier)
3. Have a way to "nominate" a post to be included in the "tech article" section

I think by building a better "how to" section, the members, and guests will be able to find some answers quicker and easier (other than searching through thousands of posts)

just an idea...

Here is one example

If your "door ajar" or "dome light" is staying on, Read this.

While I totally agree that it'd make sense to do that... additionally, it would add value to our site .... you're looking at quite a bit of time to maintain such a monster. I think that's where we may fall short unfortunately.

As moderators, we're 'charity' work (although, I still don't have a tax ID number so that I can claim this on my taxes Steve! -- LOL!). I know I don't have nearly the time to do this and my 'real' job as well. Steve, as such, is swamped with other things as f150online.com isn't his only hand in the cookie jar either...

So, in short, I agree with your conception and idea but, it's going to be a tough one to pull off I think...

Perhaps you can just make a sticky and post links to the threads themselves. This would cut down on the maintenance

You could even do it per forum. Ex. Have a sticky thread dedicated to 04-06s where the best threads available are simply linked. It might cut down on your work load of maintenance with articles.

One could scan through that thread and find the best article on say powered tailgate locks. Just a thought.

A good idea... potentially we could expand on that though...

I don't think we'd want a bunch of stickies at the top of any given forum. That detracts as well...

Any which way, Steve will have to give the backing to move forward. This isn't my site...
