what type of tuner should I get?

Hi I have a 2014 f150 5.0 truck. It is lifted just a little and with 35 inch tires. I put in a K&N air intake and love it but now am looking for a tuner. What is my best option?

Go with a SCT X4. Its what a lot of guys are running. The real question is who you should use to write the tunes... Im a huge fan of MPT but I am a little bias as its who I used. However, a lot of guys are running 5 star tuning and I've heard good things about them as well. I would do some research on the forum and see what other 5.0 guys have used and how satisfied they are.

I have a Bullydog GT tuner. It's great and does everything the SCT livewire does but for $200 less. Plus SCT and Bullydog merged so the bullydog and be tuned with SCT software.

screw that, save $200 on the initial purchase then add additional cost for a tune - seems way more legit than buying a sct device straight from a reputable tuner and having tunes come with it

Bullydog has canned tunes on it just like every other tuner. What I was trying to say is if you add a supercharger you can take it to a dyno and not have to buy an SCT tuner to get it tuned.

why the additional cost for a dyno tune?

it's not my money the OP is spending , just seems silly to pay more for less results

I believe that will still leave you slightly below stock whereas 4.56 will bring you above if I am not mistaken.

You obviously have no clue what I'm talking about. If you heavily mod your engine you have to dyno tune it no matter what programmer you buy. For example I could buy a whipple supercharger that comes with a tuner that has a canned tune for that whipple on a stock engine. That tune would never work on my truck because I have longtubes, straight pipes and race mufflers so I would have to put my truck on a dyno to get a real tune.

Plus all canned tunes are not the best tunes and if you have the money to do it and you want your engine to run at its best you need a dyno tune.

I had the Gryphon before the bullydog and the tunes are exactly the same bullydog looks better though and can take SCT tunes.

I had no idea that vehicles HAD to be tuned on a dyno, guess anyone with a dyno is a reputable tuner

guess I need to go line up some dyno tunes now
