You will be lucky if you still have your truck by the time you get a tune from Troyer, unless you make an appointment and drive to his shop.

Hmmm ... I thought that was apparent - dyno time costs money. This price is comparable to the other shops; 5Star charges $105/hr, for example.
Now you know why remote email tuning is such a great alternative - you in effect provide the labour and 'dyno time' yerself by doing the datalogging as per provided instructions. Even if you invest in a wideband as a one-time cost (which is required to collected needed A/F data to allow a properly dialed in tune) yer still below the overall cost of a shop visit + travel time + gas, etc.
Also consider the fact that datalog review and tune adjustments are 'free' ( part of the programmer/custom tuning package price) for a generous period to allow for iterative log/review/adjustment cycles to nail the tuning, and it's quite the deal. Just needs some time, and focus from the end-user.
Just sayin' ...

Oh I hear ya i wasn't bitching about there cost just on my end wasn't prepared to drop a grand on getting the truck tuned up. Half of ford owners ride with stock trucks and are fine with it. I just like the fact of better shifting little more horsepower and possibly a mpg save. Which can be accomplished by email tunes Not looking to run the truck at the track or anything so the email tune was fine with me. I guess I just wasn't aware of the dyno proccess. If I could go there throw it on the dyno for an hour maybe two it would be worth getting my troyer tunes with out the Waite for 200 extra but not 500 to 800 bucks. To me any way. Now if I had alot of major modifications and time in the truck then maybe. I got my 5 star tunes this morning. Loaded it up no clue if I did it right. Had to over write my 93 tune from innovative so hopefully it worked and I'm not riding around on 87 oct with a innovative 93 tune.

This is all kind of new to me so data logging on my end will prolly not exist unless I feel something is wrong with the tune

I hear ya too, bud.
That's why I mentioned Dyno Day - THOSE are genuine bargains - most of the good shops have them - PHP, VMP, TP. You get fully datalogged pulls for a VERY reasonable price - from $free$ to ~$65. And a great time, to boot hangin' with like-minded folk.
So - if one of these events coincides with yer schedule you may wish to consider it.

Yeah. When I talked to troyer he said no dyno day in future and he is the closest to me other than innovative. I'll have to talk to eric about that and see if a gas truck could slid into his dyno day. I'm sure he won't have a problem as he is getting involved in the f150 world as we speek. He might and up having a gas truck dyno day anyhow.

I really just hope I did this overwrite of his 93 oct tune with my 5 star. Not sure I'm knowledgable enough to notice

The tune file will likely have a different label - just plug in the vehicle - tre programmer will tell you what tune is currently loaded.

I renamed the tune on the sct site to 5 star and that's what shows. The shifts feel firmer in the tune that is loaded now. I'll drive it a few days and see what's up with it. If I did do the dyno at troyer that would take all the guess work out of this and know I had the best tune possible. Just money wise can't do it. They recommended me to change plugs, fuel filter, and o2 sensors before I came so that's even more money.

Concerning the maintenance - that's something that should be done regardless and is in itself very good advice.
No tuning is a bandaid for a pre-existing mechanical/electrical condition, and these tunes assume the vehicle is 100% in-spec - particularly the front O2's - if those are 'lazy', nothing else will matter. Same goes for restricted fueling, random misfires, etc, etc.

Personally I don't see the need in spending the money for a custom tune on a basically stock truck from troyer. He requires too much upfront cost as well as added dyno time. If you have added a supercharger or nitrous, then it would be worth it.
