Stock truck; perhaps a CAI later. Looking at 87 economy, 87 tow, and 93 performance. I don't need a display. Justin at VMP and PHP both get rave reviews on here, so which do I choose??? I drive mainly highway, occasionally tow 1 or 2 quads and someday (hopefully) a 19ft or so travel trailer; either that or a camper so I can still tow the quad trailer.
you have to decide which one you want, if you want a gryphon then PHP is your only option, if you an sct product you can go to either one
asking people to choose one or the other is like urinating uphill into the wind
it's gonna get bad real quick...

Like he said, if you do not want the display(which I can not do without), then the Xcal3 is the best hardware in my opinion. That can be programmed by VMP, PHP or Troyer. They are all excellent with great reputations. Just pick one and get going.

And it's hard to "vote" without having tried both, very few have done so.

the SCT livewire also provides guages just like the gryphon
I have enough guages and I wanted a fast tuner that is supported by many shops which is what led me to a SCT Xcal2, and now I'm running an Xcal3 on the latest tuning
if I needed guages the gryphon or livewire would be my choice as they are both able to be custom tuned,
the only thing 98% of everyone will agree on is that custom tuning owns canned tuners

I say go with the Gryphon, but only because I'm really happy with mine. When it comes to the gauge feature, I believe some of the items you can monitor are not actual sensor readings but they are somehow readings implied (not sure if that's the right choice of words).
I'm sure someone who knows more on that topic can offer more info.
To make your decision making easy, flip a coin and go with that. I think you'll be happy with any of the options you listed.

After running both VMP (Xcal3) and PHP (Gryphon) tunes on my truck I vote for PHP. Both tunes made a big difference over stock but my truck runs stronger, shifts better, and gets better mileage with the PHP tunes. Not to mention the extra gauges are a pretty cool feature.
I love my PHP Gryphon, and excellent experience with Bill & Corey whom run PHP. Love the Gryphon display too, looks perfect like it belongs in it. Custom tunes are excellent and its really came alive. Glad to have given my business to PHP.

Thoughts?
To answer your question I vote for VMP. I have been running his tune in my truck for 2 years and zero problems and he was great to work with.
