just picked up a edge evo. question is, when installing on a stock truck will i need to enter tire size and gear size? or will edge automatically read that when i go to install? stock 255/70/17 tires and 3.73 gears. thanks

Just go to the custom settings and see if the default is what you have. If it is, you don't change it, if not, change it. I always had to change my gear ratio. It defaulted to 3.73 and I have 3.55s.

If you use any of the tunes it should automatically load your tire size and gear ratio from your pcm. Once you start using custom settings then you will want to check them and make sure they are correct.

installed wednesday night. must of read o.k since my speedometer and rpm's are spot on with the truck's. installed level 2 really can tell the lag in the throttle is pretty much gone. you hammer it and she go's. is running 87 octane reccommended for level 2? was hoping to get a little more mpg's but i doubt it since i now find myself hammering it a bit enjoying the new found power.

Yes, I have heard this from the get go, yet mine always defaulted to 3.73 and I have 3.55s, so I advise to check it.

Run 87 for levels 1 and 2. Run at least 91 for level 3. If you run 93 on level 3, then bump the timing up + 1.00

I wonder why yours does that? My 06 4.6 that I used it on picked the 3.55, which is what it had and now my 07 5.4 picks the 3.73, again which is what the truck has.

Am I maybe reading something wrong?

Just because the speedo on your truck and the speedo on the Evo match doesn't necessarily mean the tire size and gears are correct. The truck's speedo is controlled by the PCM, so when the PCM is reprogrammed, that will automatically make the trucks speedo almost match the programmers. (You should expect the truck's to read a little FASTER than the programmer's.)

Its drastic. Level 1 only modifies your shifting of the tranny no adjustment of power. Level two does the tranny and engine adjustment. Three even goes farther with it, but you must run higher octane for it.

ok. thanks, that what i thought. i installed level 2 for more power.since i also do some towing of a boat. and when i want to pass i want some power now, which it feels like i have now. feel's now that i am getting more out of my 5.4. just curious what would happen if i ran E85 on level 2? my truck is E85 have only tried it one time a year ago and mileage stunk? just curious.

Custom tune would be required for E85.

I have no idea. It even gets a little stranger. When I ordered my custom tunes, I asked Bill to specifically program for the 3.55s. He did on one tune and forgot on the other. When I use that tune, I have to plug in the 3.55. So, I still have to watch the gears. No big deal, just weird. Keep in mind though, my Edge was one of the early ones.
