Gryphon

Finally saved all my penny's and ready to order the gryphon. Question is i am not going to get the custom tunes right at the moment. So is the gryphon with no custom tunes the same as a edge. I guess what i am asking is i can get a edge for $350.00 and get it transformed to a gryphon later down the road. Or is the gryphon have better canned tunes than the edge. Thanks guys

I would get the grpyhon because I guess the tunes are a bit more aggressive canned vs. canned tune compared to the edge. Congrats man! I hopefully will be doing this soon too... esp with the sale going on

i believe the canned tunes for the gryphon are written by bill from php so i think the canned tunes in the gryphon are a bit more better then the canned tunes of the edge.

Save your money and start out with the gryphon. The savings aren't that drastic but you can get the custom tunes without the conversion fee. Plus if you go the conversion route the custom tunes are more expensive.

To answer the original question, the hardware is basically the same. Just a different colored shell. The canned tunes are also basically the same as Bill programs for Edge. I understand that he has tweaked the canned tunes in the Gryphon a little differently, but they should be very similar to those in the Edge.

Get the Ghyphon. I went edge first with the intentions of upgrading later. Trust me you will want the upgrade. THe added power of the edge is like a drug and now Im jonesen to get mine upgraded and custom tuned. The worst part is I will have to send it in to have it upgraded and the wait time will flat out kill me.

I need insight on the custom tunes for the Gryphon. I see on the order form that there are 3 optional tune selections. It initially shows Stock Tranny only Stock 87 Tow Stock 93 performance. I want to order a gryphon soon..and from what I have read I should get custom tunes. But I never intend on using 93 octane..so what do you guys suggest I get as far as tunes. Custom 87 Tow and Custom 87 performance?? What is Tranny Only?

I think those are the canned tunes that come with the Gryphon when you order it. I think they misnamed the tunes on the form. Insert canned in place of the word stock. After you get it, you can order as 1 to three tunes as you wish. If you are satisfied with the Towing Tune, just order an 87 Performance. I have the 87 Perf and a 93 Perf and run the 87 almost exclusively.

Yes, it comes with those 3 canned tunes. Gives you a chance to see how you like those and may give you some feel for the custom tunes you want. My 87 Performance out performs the canned 93 tune, especially the shifting and downshifting. You pay extra fro each custom tune, and you may want only one custom tune. If that were the case, you decide which one of the 3 canned tunes you replace. Might be the shift only tune. It was worthless to me. You should never tow on a performance tune, so you might want to get a custom towing tune or just keep the canned one if you don't do a lot of towing.

Absolutely, or you can go ahead now and have Bill do you custom tune and then ship it. You can get your tunes through email. Drive stock tunes until the custom are sent. Atleast thats how I understand it.
