I am considering getting a gryphon. What i'm wanting to know is if i get it down the road when I want to sell my pickup is it going to be possible to sell it to someone? Because of the custom tunes being set up for my truck specifically? I just want to know how that all works out. Thanks everyone.
You shouldn't have a problem selling the hardware. The tunes you get will be useless to whomever you sell the Gryphon, but they will be able to replace your tunes with their own. So, you probably won't necessarily be able to recover the cost of the tunes, but you shouldn't have any problem partially recovering the cost of the programmer itself.

Correct. The only way the tunes would be good for someone else is if they had the same HEX code and same mods.

I was told by a dealer that you need to reset it or clear it BEFORE you sell it in order to clear the hex code of YOUR vehicle. If you dont the new buyer will have to send it in to have it reset and then mate to HIS hex code.
I mentioned to him I was thinking of buying one on e-bay and he gave me this warning..dont know if he was right or not.
I ened up buying one yesterday thru PHP and talked to Corey and her Husband Bill. They were getting ready for the SEMA show and gave me the show price..399 as always BUT the cost of 1 custom tune free.So I got a new gryphon for the same price as a new edge with 1 free custom tune and the capibility to be upgraded as needed.

I think you two are talking about 2 different things. Anytime you plan on getting rid of any tuner, or even if you are just taking your truck to the dealer to be worked on, you need to return the vehicle to the stock tune.
Now, as to whether you can reload the canned tunes into the tuner, I do not know, but I do know that if you are selling a tuner that contains custom tunes, they are written for one HEX code, and would be of use to someone else, only if they had the same code, which is highly unlikely.

Farmboy - that is correct. You would return the truck to the stock tune (Level 0) and remove the Gryphon from the truck. Then, using Pegasus, you would use the Gryphon Update Manager to update the Calibrations, not the Firmware and this would replace the custom tunes with the "canned" ones. At this point it should work with any model year 04-08 truck.

I absolutely love it, It really wakes up the engine my truck is completely stock besides the Gryphon too. My buddy has a max energy programmer by hypertech it is good but nothing like the features of the gryphon. I have to control myself on the 93 performance tune. I am going to get hauled off to jail if i keep driving like tony stewart its hard to resist with the power you get.
I am going on a rant... To answer your question I wouldn't hesitate telling anyone to buy a Gryphon!!!
