I'll try to make clearer. The Gryphon with out custom tunes is same with the edge. They come with 3 levels 1 is a tranny tune, 2 is a tow tune and 3 is a performance tune. THe gryphon's canned tunes are hit bit peppier from what I have read. Now, you can buy custom tunes for the gyrphon or have an edge upgraded to a gryphon. On the gryphon, you can have up to 3 custom tunes. You don't have to have 3 - you could have 2 or just one as I plan on doing. All you do with the custom tunes is set it into one of the canned tunes location that you do not want. Think of it as saving over another file. For me, I plan on "saving" an 87 economy tune over the level 1 tranny tune. It would still leave me with the level 2 and level 3 canned tunes. So you always have 3 tunes on the Gryphon it is just a matter of how many custom or canned you have. If you have no custom tunes then you have 3 canned tunes. If you have 1 custom tune that you ordered, then you have 2 canned tunes. Make more sense?

i dont wanna sound like a pain in the @$$, but its confusing...lol...see i dont want to keep switching fuels from 87 to 91. i want to stick with 87. now from what i understand. you can choose 87 tow, 87 performance,..but i understand what u mean about having 1 custom tune and 2 canned tunes. it can be watever i want as long as it totals 3. correct?

Basically. The only canned tune that requires a higher grade fuel is level 3 (I think it is 91 octane). Canned tunes 1 and 2 are 87. If you get scsutom tunes.. you can get what you want for octane level. You could get a 87 performance, 91 economy ect. Whatever you wanted for octane and the type of tune (tow, economy, performance) you can order as a custom tune. I highly suggest you read the sticky because it would explain it a bit more in depth and might make a bit more sense.

Ok so what are your goals... more fuel economy or performance. The truck will run better with any custom tune, it is just a matter of what is your primary goal. Do want more power if you have a heavy foot or better mpg's?

I would say then, get an 87 economy tune to replace level one on the gryphon. Read the sticky and you should have a better understanding. I feel ya on it.. it can be confusing dude so read up. I'm off to bed but others can help and I can aid more tomorrow if needed.
