You need gears more than anything, if you still have the stock ratio and money is no problem.

4.88s, Xcal3 from VMP Tuning, and a good cai of your choice.

I'd try this...

With a splash of Vodka, you might have something!

Hey, Bill's a funny guy! Did that post have anything to do with the time you posted it?

Rubin, there are probably a thousand threads asking some variation of this same question - "Which programmer is best?" - and I'm sure there are nearly that many answers. You asked for opinions, so I will provide mine, which is based on nothing but personal experience. I use an Edge Evolution, soon to be upgraded to a Gryphon by PHP (the order form is filled out, just need to find a some time to be without it for a bit while it gets upgraded). I have not used any of the other programmers, and don't think I ever will. I've been happy with the Evolution and would recommend it to anyone.

I agree, there are so many different kinds of programmers and everyone is going to tell you that theres is the best but you just have to do some research on them, I went with the gryphon with custom tunes because I like having the screen display that comes with it and shows me my rpms, gas mileage averages, tranny temp and oil temp. The list goes on with stuff you can display but thats why I chose the gryphon and its definitely given me my power back and much more than I was looking for after putting 35's on. I would re-gear and get a programmer with custom tunes so you can account for your cold air intake you already installed because without the tunes your truck may be running lean so you need the parameters of your maf sensor widened.

Yeah, I'm funny... but as Corey says, "Looks aren't everything."

Honestly, as far as programmers go there's the Gryphon, which we sell, and there is the SCT X3 and Livewire units which are sold by Troyer Performance, Justin at VMP, and also by us. Justin and Mike both know their sh-tuff when to comes to tuning and both are also super nice folks to deal with. I'm sure you'd be very happy with our stuff but you certainly couldn't go wrong with either of them as well.

As to the original question, most will agree that the best value as far as a power adder would be a programmer. The functionality and the performance gains as well as the reasonable cost make it a popular first mod for most folks. My other favorite would be a set of underdrive pulleys.

The important thing is to remember that it's your truck. Buy what makes you happy and enjoy it. Make it your personal statement and you can't go wrong. At least until the credit card bill comes!

Take care.
