Has anyone thought about seeing if the tuner for a 2009 Mustang GT would work on a 3 valve 4.6 F150???

No... The Mustangs do not come with a 6 speed automatic transmission.

A Mustang programmer won't work as the calibrations are different. That said Hypertech has a programmer that works on all of the 2009 F-150s. The 4.6 L 3V pick up 8 HP & 15 TQ using regular fuel. Plus you can: Change top-speed limiter and rev limiter, Adjust automatic transmission shift points, and Adjust cooling fan on/off temps. You can check out how we tuned the 09 F-150 here:

SCT is almost finished with their tuning on the 2009 strategies from what I was told by someone at SCT.
