changing the evo on the fly?

I'm sure its been answered but i could'nt find it sorry. Can you change tunes and cust. tunes on an edge evo without turning the truck off?

NO! The truck has to be stopped with the engine off. Then, put the ignition to ON, (engine OFF) and you can reprogram.

Yeah me too. Those 30 seconds you waste to switch between tunes are unbearable.


Has anyone tried throwing the truck into nuetral and shutting the truck off? Maybe a way to change on the fly?


Oh, and I guess if you are doing a first install or tune, it takes 2 minutes. It has to copy your stock tune.

I was going to say something like trying it in neutral while coasting down a mountain with the ignition ON and the engine OFF, trying to read the fine print on the screen, and pass the semi (who's in low gear), but decided maybe that wasn't a real good idea!

kinda figured it had to be stoped but this is my first programmer

Don't worry. It wasn't a stupid question. The diesels are capable of switching tunes on the fly.

yea and i used to have a F250 and i was going to order a programmer for it but someone ended up stealing that truck b4 i could. I remember you could do it on the fly with a diesel but thought i better ask about a gas truck.

I thought there was a programmer for gas trucks that let you change it while driving. Maybe I'm thinking of diesel.

I've changed tunes at stop lights and stop signs before, just to show people the difference it made.
