I also tried 89 octane and the pinging is much less, but still there.

You have several emails from me on this topic, so please let me know what I should be doing to get a better set of 87 tunes for my truck.

PS. I live in Houston, Texas, so I do not think we get the winterized gas down here.
Hey, do you have a real name or email address that i can reference? right now i have no way to identify you.

TX may get some blend changes in the winter, and I think they do have a ton of ethanol, but i can vary from fillup to fillup.

Justin,

Sorry, I thought you would recognize the email from the timing data I provided in this thread, as it was pretty much a cut and paste...

Order ID: 3507
87 Tow and 87 Peformance for 2007 Ford F150 FX4 with 5.4L

Thanks,

Winter-blend fuel SUCKS! Ah... I feel better now.

Outside of that, Fords are notorious for getting slight detonation when the temperature drops below about 45º with a program that otherwise runs fine. I've had two or three customers that have needed to make a mile timing adjustment (-1 to -2 degrees) in order to get rid of a slight ping at cruise.

Setting back to zero adjustment and the seeing if higher octane fuel helps isn't a bad idea. Keep in mind that WHERE you buy your fuel is just as important as what octane you buy.

Good luck.
