Fuel Economy /HP Chips

Anyone with a 4.6L F150 have any luck with any of those chips that they sell on Ebay for like $10 - $20 to increase Fuel Economy and HP. I know that they really are not chips, they are actully just a resistor. And I am sure they are not going to give an extra 75+ HP and 20+ MPG like they advertise but just was wondering if any one had any luck with any of them and if so which one. All the reviews I have read are mixed and most of the ebay feedback only mentioned the saleand shipping and not the quality of the product.

I was looking to put one in my 08 F150 and am lookin more to get a few extra mpg, if I get a few extra horses that would be ok. Even if I only get an extra 1 mpg it pays itself off quick, I know they say they are safe but I am also concerned about possible long term effects or damage to the truck.

Pure snake oil! Stay away!!!!!!!! These trucks are too expensive to put something like that on it. Best bet is to save your money for custom tunes. There are quite a few threads on the subject of custom tunes.

If you don't have the money and want to save on gas then you need to change your driving habits to conserve gas. This is just my opinion.

Thanks Kevin,
I was kinda feeling the same way and figured those chips were too good to be true and alittle hesitant to put one in my new truck but thought I would see if anyone actully tried and liked it

I haven't seen that one, but it sounds scary. Maybe you can get a neighbor to try one first . The tip on driving habits is spot on. My 08 4.6 has gotten as high as 20+ for local driving and 25 on the highway. But this means keeping it at 63 or below on the highway, and doing as much coasting as possible locally. It is kinda fun to see what you can actually do with this truck, but sometimes in traffic you just have to get on it to enter highways and to avoid problems.
Be advised, I live in southern Louisiana and the only things resembling hills are the bridges. Pretty much flat down here.
