exhaust tone change with tune

has anyone experienced an exhaust tone difference after programming thier 5.4??

I noticed that the hypertech I have installed changed the tone with the 91 octane tune is this bad or is this normal with every tuner?

I just insalled mine a couple days ago and have a noticed a difference as well, for the better I think. I have a flowmaster exhuast and before I installed the edge, you could hear a pretty load drone at lower rpm's and it was a little annoying....But its gone now!!!

Yes and I love it. It sounds alot deeper than before I put the Edge on. It sounds meaner!

The tuners adjust the timing significantly. This makes a big difference in the sound of the engine as it fires, thus exhaust has to sound different.

Yes it changes the exhaust sound. Even with stock exhaust you will hear a difference. I installed my Edge with the stock exhaust and then installed my Flowmaster. It was night and day difference. You will like the sound!

my wife like the sound too

I like the sound I just wnted to make sure I hadn't done anything wrong and my wife even prefers the sound with the tune to it stock tuned, and we've got side dumps with a flowmaster 50 series

now if only i could get her to stop listening to those crappy "boybands"...

I know this is an old thread, but I noticed when changing from my performance tune to street tune my exhaust tone changed, so I did a search and found this old thread, the performance tune throughout the entire RPM range is a lot louder from idle to WOT... got it back on street tune and just seems too quiet now, I have it on street tune vs the performance to see how gas mileage is affected. When I am on the performance tune my gas mileage seems to go down rather quickly, but I think its mostly due to me being rather aggressive with the gas pedal...

I'm glad you used the search feature, I have learned a lot in 3 years I was a total newbie to the forum and modular motors when this was originally posted

Eventually tho, when I get my truck tuned, if I get an economy tune... I don't want my truck to get quieter. If anything stay the same or get louder.
