Question hypertech power programmer

i was thinking about buying a power programmer for a 2002 f-150 4x4 5.4 engine. i have a 3" body lift and 315-70-17 BFG A/T's. Any suggestions as to whether or not i would be happy with the buy would be greatly appreciated. Also, i was looking to buy one off of e-bay as they are as low as 200 dollars. Thanks in advance.

lots of info......

I opened a can of worms on this and your probably going to get the same answer. 99 % of the people on this site will tell you to go with the Max Micro Tuner over the Hypertech III. Both units are programmers. Both units all you to chose between 87-92 octane. Both units will allow you to remove the top speed limiter. I bought the Hypertech III and could really tell a difference. I also did allot of homework and finally decided to send the Hypertech back and go with the Max Micro Tuner. Why? What I've learned is the Hypertech is MUCH better for a Chevy and the Max Micro Tuner is better for Ford. I was given this info by every guy who worked in some type of performance parts store. Everyone one that owned a Ford had the Max Micro Tuner. Everyone that had a Chevy had the Hypertech III. My Max Micro Tuner will be here early next week. If you'd like, I can tell you which I like better. I have an 02 with the 5.4. As far as EBAY. Spend the extra few bucks and get a NEW unit. Why save about $100.00 and not know what you're getting? The Hypertech III is $306.00 with NO tax and free shipping. The Max Micro Tuner is around $360.00 with NO tax and free shipping. Get a new unit with a warranty. You'll be happier in the long run. Ebay is great, but not for this type of unit. One guy recently bought a unit and the program was already downloaded. This means SuperChips was going to charge the guy $200.00 to reset the unit so it could be used. Lets see.... $220.00 for a used unit.... $200.00 to repair defective ebay unit. Wow the supossed good deal has now turned into a $420.00 unit when he could of bought new for $360.00. Good Luck... tell us what you decide. L@ter.....

Awesome price...

Wow, I wish I would of known. Actually the place I bought the Hypertech was good enough to let me send it back. I don't mind I spent a little extra. Sometime you pay more when you're not sure what you really want. Mike's customers service is flawless as well.

max tuner vs Hypertch

richgonfishin says that the max tuner is better I don't understand why.
with the hypertech on a 4.6 lt motor you gain 22 hp and 43 ft lbs of torque. On the max tuner it shows18 hp and 26 ft lbs of torque. I prefer the more Hp and torque. Unless I have the wrong figures for each place. Or is there somethng else that makes them differnt.

Mike
