Question Comp code question for mike or any one???

I need to find out my comp code to order a chip. The code is on the passenger side door and is kinda screwed up. All I can read is "IM_4 3rd letter is missing. I know the code is also on the computer itslf but I do not have the time now to pull it down and look at it. I was hoping to order the chip today. My VIN is "1FTDF1763VKB34934" If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

you should be able to see the cap that covers the connectors on your computer without removing it. The code is also on that cap... computer is on the inside firewall on the far passenger's side...

Hi chrisely24,

Sure, since we specialize in these F-150's I have many of the popular codes memorized, and thus can complete this simple one for you. Your code is actually "IMP4."

That would be a 1997 Ford F-150 with a 4.6 V8 and 4R70W automatic transmission.

By the way, you can easily see the PCM (computer) without taking anything apart, it's just above the passenger's kick panel and looks like a rectangular-shaped aluminum box, about 1.5" wide by 6" tall by 9 " long, the way it's mounted in the 1997-2003 F-150. There is a black plastic clip that holds the PCM to it's mounting bracket, just pull that clip straight back and it will come right off, revealing another code sticker on the back of the PCM, which, in your case, will read IMP4.
