roof rust repair

2000 scab
so i noticed some little rust spots on the roof of my truck today. i was gonna just sand it down and paint over it with some rustolium, but what do y'all think?

no, you want to sand it down, but use a color match pen and some clear coat. If that does not do it, then the sections needs to be redone. Sometimes clean finger nail polish can work but only for small spots

well its on my roof so i dont care about the color. so i should just sand it down and put some clear coat on top?

you can, as long as you make sure the new clear coat blends into the old, meaning if you leave a gap then it can peel up.

Sand and clean carefully with some rubbing alcohol then dry and apply clear coat. it should work, I say should because weather etc can do all types of weird stuff

How big are the spots? If you really don't care a bunch of what it looks like, I'd say spray some rust converter on there, even it out with some sanding, then do a coat of Plasti-Dip

thanks for the replies. the rust spots are tiny, about the size of a bb.

You'll definitely want to sand to get rid of the rust spots. If you just cover up the rust it will keep eating away at the metal of your truck.
