what do it get my red truck shine best

i been looking around in the forum here and and seen alot of diffenert products and got kind of lost i have a new red 09 and in the past on a white and sliver truck mother's wax had been great to them and with this new red truck it doesn't seam to be the same so with what i've been reading it sound like some sealant and waxs are the way to go..one that seam to come up alot is jetseal and some other waxes so what are you pro detailers using on red to get a deep and long lasting shine? also if i do go to a seal do i need to tape off rubber and text plastic to keep it off them

I had a friend come over and used the 3m tripple compound and he buffed mine for 100 bucks waxed it for thirty! Happy today! Lee

i have a 93 and it was really dull looking, i tried a couple differant waxes to get it to shine but it never would like i wanted, a buddy of mine had some Bow and Stern marine wax with teflon, i couldnt believe how much oxidation came off, it realy made it shine

Ok, lets put this to rest.

For your new 09 this is what you need to do:

Get a Clay Kit and some Extra QD.
Wash the truck, (2buckets, no cotton wash mits)
Dry the truck, no cotton, MF only
Clay it
Then use the Meg's over the counter stuff at big box retailers using a foam applicator.

Are you doing this by hand or machine? If so, what machine?




Obviously this is a little abridged (b/c 100% of it is in the sticky) but what you don't want is to compound anything on an 09, no reason, nor is there any reason to buy any of the "ice" products...they are total junk.

There are many elders lurking around in the CD section, many of which know Red better than most.

1. Buy a Porter Cable D/A buffer (at minimum), an assortment of pads, and learn how to use them. You'll never really achieve any paint correction by hand.
2. Buy some good liquid soap meant for cars and some decent microfiber towels.
3. Wash the truck using a non-marring wash mit.
4. Clay Bar the truck (using a clay-bar lube).
5. Correct swirl marks using Meguiars #105, then move on to Meguiars #205.
6. At this point, I use Danase Wet Glaze; awesome stuff.
7. Top with Blackfire Wet Diamond sealant (Megs NXT 2.0 is OK)
8. If you want, top with a carnauba wax; I use Collinite 845.
9. Finally, hit it with a good detailing spray,

Yaeh, I know...lots of steps and time, but the above will get you to a point where you can maintain the look by just repeating steps 6-9.

There are tons of different waxes out there and you will get many different responses. Zaino is really good but you have to put so many coats on to make it really shine. I prefer Adams Buttery Wax. It goes on super easy and comes off just as easy. Provides a great shine and will last quite awhile. I did my girlfriends car back in July with this stuff and it still beads up when it rains. Again there are many other good products out there. You just have to find out what works best for you.

Proper prep work will make a bigger difference than which wax you choose. Being an '09 it shouldn't need too much, so a good wash, clay, and AIO should net you some pretty nice results.

well my truck is a year old and the paint has tons of swrils and the hood feels like sand paper

i have a good buffer and pads from when i worked in a body shop, and just a few foam pads
and ive used claybars before to remove paint over spary

i think i might just clay bar and wax it right now as it with what is recommend

You seem to have all the right tools and knowledge from the body shop.

I would consider the process that jay mentioned above.

1. wash
2. clay
3. most important part of getting the shine back to your car will be the polishing. you want to get rid of the swirls to get your paint as close to swirl free as you can this way you will get the optimum shine.
4. wax for the added shine and protection.
