carbonfiber hood

so any special steps i need to take in detailing a carbonfiber hood?

i normally just do on paint but my roommate wants me to do his carbon fiber hood that has seen better days...the gelcoat looks to be fading a bit...

carbon should be painted with a clear coat and can then be treated like any painted panel...if it does not have clear over the carbon...ummmm i see a mess a comin'....its alot more porus than it looks...if it does not have clear and after being polished it does come up a bit i think the results will be short lived
