97-03 Paint defects

Hey, I did some searching, found a really old thread, circa 2003. Well, I have all the spider webbing and cracking that makes me think it a defect. I didn't really catch it until I had owned the truck for a while (of course, and I wasn't a freak about my finish until this site!).

What I wanted to know was two things, I read that Ford might still have a resposibility to fix it, does that still apply to the third owner of the truck, which I am? Also, what can I do to fix it or make it not very visible at all?

If anyone would like some photos, I can easily make that happen. Its REALLY bad on the hood, and front fenders, but is progressing back, found it on the doors and tailgate sides the last time I washed and clayed.

^^^Cool

This is the best photo that I could get, without the gloss, just washing it all out. If anybody has a better way to get good photos of the paint, let me know!

The part that looks like something is running down the side, is actually a crap load of micro scratches/cracks. It looks like bird crap or something. If thats what it was, It was the previous owner, I don't let that stuff sit on my paint.

Have you tried a good polishing compound and a buffer.. Then I would say if that doesn't work I would take it by the Ford place and raise hell for 3 or 4 weeks...

Even though I'm the third owner, and the truck is almost 7 years old? Do I have a chance in hell of getting this thing repainted??

All of the straight lines in the paint are tiny little cracks in the base/clear.
