Protecting Flat Black Paint

Hey All,

I bought a cowl hood for my Mustang. I'm thinking of going flat black on it as well as my spoiler, tail light surrounds, and a few trim pieces.

My question is I know I can get a "flat" clear coat, but can I just wax it and maintain it as I do with my regular paint.

I would assume that polish is out of the question.

Thanks

You can treat it as a normal gloss finish without any harm being done. But the flat black finish might have a bit more shine to it after the wax is applied.

Tri City paint makes a satin black. Not a straight flat black but a light sheen to it. They made it for resto work for 60's muscle cars. Call them and they will set you up.

Thanks for the info and the Link. I don't mind it having a bit of a sheen to it, as long it looks obviously flat or "satin" vs glossy.

I'll post a couple of pics once it's done, I think it'll look good, but who knows, maybe it won't
