Any opinions

Ok guys, I got a container of Turtle Wax Platinum Series Ultra Gloss Paste wax for.... 1.60 or so on clearance a few months ago at my work. I use mothers and Meg's products, but is this any good. For the price I grabbed it.

Turtle wax products aren't held in high regard among detailers. They're very subpar products. That said, try it and see if you like it. If you like it then great. If not, atleast you only spent $1.60 (or so). If you don't like it you can always use it on other stuff, ie lawn mowers, snow blowers, generators, mailboxes (ahem, I don't know who would do that...) etc.

Thanks man. I do have another question in general. I like paste waxes because I can easily spread them and get even coats for the most part. I struggle with liquids and tend to shy away from them because of that. What is the best way to apply them by hand?

What is th best way to apply liquid waxes by hand? Well, I don't really use liquid waxes (other than Optimum Spray Wax). Like you, I like paste waxes. The few times I did use liquid waxes I've applied them with a PC7424 with a foam pad. That said, there are soft foam applicators that are similar to the foam buffing pads. I would probably use those myself. Here is a link to what I am talking about. At the bottom of the page you'll find 4" Round Foam
Dressing Applicators
. I picked up a few of them not long ago but the constant rain hasn't given me a chance to use them.

Ok, that works. What I may do is after I get a few more things for my truck this summer, is get some detailing pads and such. What would you reccomend for towels and pads? I don't want to spend a fortune.

Pads depend on the machine you're using. I'm assuming you're asking about buffer pads. For towels, I use towels from The Rag Shack. I recently bought 60 of the superfly towels and 6 of the gladiator towels. Also just the other day I got another shipment in which included 12 of the **** rag towels. All fantastic towels. A bit cheaper but the same quality as the superfly is the ultra premium, just a bit smaller which some people prefer. Sometimes you just get what you pay for. Justin frequently has sales though so I'd keep an eye open and order then. I usually announce his sales here anyway. If you're going to be using a PC DA as your buffer of choice then I'd recommend 4" LC pads. I'd pick up a handful of white (workhorse) pads along with an orange (cutting) or two, a black or blue or red (finishing pads for waxes and sealants, different levels of soft but all good.)

I use NXT 2.0 liquid, and apply it with the foam pad it comes with.
