How to clean/polish

So, i have a few scratches on that black piece thats directly behind my drivers/passenger side window (on the door). I dont even know what type of material it is and it has a few scratches and want to polish it out.

Its this piece:

If he's in LR, maybe he should run over to Atkins and get hwm3 to take a look at it.

thats actually not my truck, just found one online for referencing purposes. It just has small scrapes on it from tree branches and what not. Its not grooved scratches or anything, just real light scrathes.

I live in North Little Rock (by Hooters) and work at the AF base.

We would need to see some photos, I don't have a F150 but seem to remeber those pieces are painted and if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail there may not be much you can do to fix that besides getting new ones or repainting them. GLC is right, if you happen to rolling west for any reason you should arrange a visit with member HWM3, he is a Jedi.

What does this jedi do exactly? Ill try and take some pictures but im sure you wont be able to see what i was talking about, they arent that bad at all, you can even feel them.
