Is this aluminum polish OK on my rims?
Question about my other vehicle today...
I have the 18" polished aluminum mags on my Mustang. I tried the Mothers mag & aluminum polish today but the directions state that a "black residue" should appear after some buffing, and it did not. After wiping off the polish it doesn't really appear to be better or worse, maybe slightly shinier in the area that I applied it.
Is this polish OK to use on these rims and if not, what would be a better product to use?
A pic from August when I got the car for reference:

Those appear to be OEM Mustang aluminum wheels - which all have a clear coat on them these days. Your best bet is to treat them just like the painted surfaces on your car. The polish you tried is designed to be used on bare (uncoated) aluminum surfaces and is much too abrasive for those wheels.
