Meguiars M205

I guess this stuff is supposed to be released to dealers this week. Much discussion on it over on the Meg's site forums. One guy w/24 yrs detailing experience says it's the best polish he's ever used, bar none!

Supposedly, this is a product for removing swirl marks, and it's all you need before applying an LSP. Personally, I'm wondering if M205 followed by #7, then NXT 2.0 would be the way to go.

Not cheap ($37.10 @ ADS), but I guess a little goes a long way.

ADS link: http://www.autodetailingsolutions.co...ing-polish.htm

Megs forum link: http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28339

Anyway, when someone gets to try this stuff out, please post results.

Jim

Isn't 205 the upgraded 105 that's approved for DA use?

205 is to be used as a follow up to 105. It's for Rotary Buffer, DA Polisher, Orbital Buffer and by Hand. I think 105 was upgraded to be more DA friendly. I already use it with success with my DA.

someone over at the detailers cafe said that 105 was best used with a rotary or a flex, though it seems like a lot of people use it with a PC. Which is it? I didn't have a lot of success with the SSR line. I'd really like to see what I can do with the 105.

I can tell you that I have used M105 with a Flex and I am more than impressed with the results. Anyone that knows me, knows I am a major PB fan, but M105 makes correction faster in less steps. I know that Rock has used with a PC/DA.

Meg's hit a home run with M105 and that is hard for me to say as I am not a fan of Megs products outside of #34, HD and APC+.

Cannot speak highly enough about M105. Great product. I don't see why you couldn't use with a PC/DA, you just need to bump up the speed and pad choice is also key. I've had great results with the PFW and the White Lake VC pads using M105.

That's my .02, spend it wisely (yes i stole that last line)

this post from Lumador over TDC is what I was referring to:

Keep in mind the current formulation of M105 is NOT intended for DA use. Will it work? Sometimes.

That said, I suggest bumping up to a more aggressive pad (meg's solo yellow is great, or the LC light polishing orange pad) and try that.

Also, bump the speed to 5.

I agree, that the SSR line requires A LOT of steps and time to get results. I'm hoping that the 105 will reduce the time required for the detail. I also need to get a 6" backing plate for my PC. the kit i bought from autogeek had a 4" plate and shipped 6" pads with the kit.

I should also say that I have used M105 by hand on "small" areas and I have been equally impressed. A DA can be used with M105 but pad choice is key.

What type of pad would you recommend with 105?

No. 105 has been reformulated recently to work with a DA...it now says so on the bottle (if it doesn't, you have the original formula).

205 is a totally new product and MAY be used as a follow-up to 105, but not if swirl marks are not severe.

All these points are discussed on the Meg's forums...check them out.

From all the raves, I'm gonna try it.

Pretty sweet. I'll watch out for some feedback! I'll need it by spring, along with a nice DA.
