when you are working on the hood of a black car, and you pull your machine back, and the pad looks like this? This was usings Meg's #80 (to be followed by FP)
My pad looked just like that after I polished my perfectly clean white truck. Dont know why it does that. Good to see someone on here trying something else besides Meguires. How do you like the Menzerna FPII? I have have some and I like it a lot for a light polish. I want to get the SIP but I have spent enough on supplies this month.
you are not buffin the paint off...haha... IF you ever polished throught the clear coat, then, when you hit the black paint, that black base coat would come off in about 2 seconds. you are not going to buff the clear away and reach color. unless you sanded with like 1500 like once a month. you can burn it tho. just always keep the buff machine moving.... dont hold it in one spot.
as evidenced by the answers in this thread .. there are a couple of things that can cause this ..
also as mentioned by a couple of people .. when working single stage paint, you need to really be careful as you mess with things .. the paint is softer, and usually does not need as much massaging as a clear coat does.
Any ideas for what has caused this? I have no clue, other than some type of solvent, or cleaner..
I do know that that's exactly how the Mercedes (1980's I think, definitely SS paint) paint looked at the same stage in the process... Trashed a claybar...
