Hmm - I was toying with the idea of heading down to DFW and asking you and Ryan to give mine a proper job - maybe I'll ask HWM instead, he's a lot closer than you guys are.

That Navi looks great. Hope he hasn't slacked off on the detailing to put gas in that thing.

Not Conway, but a good guess. That is a nice area. I'm around the Benton/Bryant area out in the sticks.
Hey, it always makes me feel pretty good that my Navigator is used as a reference model for a white vehicle. Like others have mentioned, technique is the biggest part of detailing along with the proper tools. I use to do my details by hand and they would look okay, but nothing what I now get by using a PC and now the UDM. Over the years I have used several products on my Navigator with similar success. My choice of compounds have either been Meguairs DACP or Optimum Compound. I usually go with Meguiars Speed Glaze or Optimums Polish for the intermediate stage and almost always use Clearkote's Vanilla Moose as a final polish/glaze. For waxes I have been real happy with S100, 4* UPP and Duragloss 105 with an occassional dose of Meguair's 21. For quick detailing I have found Clearkote's Quickshine and Duragloss Aquawax to be great.

Good luck on your detail, but if you can afford it and want that head turning shine, get yourself a PC, an assortment of pads and a bunch of good quality microfibers. My Navigator is a 1998 with over 130k miles on it and still get people thinking it's a new vehicle. As for slacking off on the detailing for gas, it's actually the opposite. I drive less now so I have more time to detail it, plus by keeping it waxed, it makes it more streamlined thus better gas milage.

Rock, thanks for the kind words as you have always been very generous with your compliments towards my Navigator.

As for pads. I have been pretty successful with using orange for compounding, white for polishing and black for the Vanilla Moose glaze. I have stuck with Lake County pads and currently using the 5.5" orange pad and the 6.5" white and black pads. I would suggest at least 2 of each, but you can get by with one of each.

Thanks for the info. It can get real confusing looking at all the products and accessories. It's nice to hear from someone with experience that knows what works. Sure beats the heck out of trial and error.

Was going to follow Rolling Rock's suggestion and went to order products when I saw that Poor Boys now has a polish with sealer out as a new product. Would this prevent me from using the White Diamonds since it was reccomended to be used in between the PP and EX-P. Has any body used this new product yet? Just starting out and want to do this right.
Thanks.

Hey there,

PB PwS isn't a new product. Maybe a new formula. If you are going to use that product it won't make sense to use the White Diamond after it...IMHO.

PwS sets up quicly has little cut but it works well as an AIO. What you could do is use PwS then after a few weeks you could hit it again with the White Diamond and then top it with an LSP.

If you apply the WD after PwS, you are basically removing the sealant. Make sense?

I did this last weekend
