I am so lost with these numbers you guys are throwing out. What is a DA? and #7 and #80. I have the Red Fire Metallic 07 FX2 and I'm planning on washing it, claying it (using Meguiars Clay kit) then I'm going to add the Deep Crystal Paint cleaner (step 1), then I will wax it using NXT Gen Liquid wax. Does this sound like a pretty good detail for my first time. The guys at Meguiars recommended it to me.

PS: I'm doing this all by hand bc I have nothing but time, Also how long should I let these products stay on the truck. I know that the after claying it I will need to wipe it off but how about the Deep Crystal Paint cleaner (how long should it stay on b4 I remove it) and the NXT Gen Liquid Wax.

Hey Pmason718...yeah it can be a tad confusing but soon enough you'll be ratteling these numbers off and they'll compute instantly for you.

A DA is a Dual Action polisher. Porter Cable.
#7 is Megs Pure Polish, #80 is a Glaze, Swirl remover, almost like a compund.

Each line is different so you can just check the website to get a better feel for what's there. Or wait for Ryan to post his Sticky.

Here is a good link to start with...

Hey now-- I turned in my homework. The teacher (ie: RP) is busy with a new baby and moving, but he has to grade it and post it up...

But yeah, man. Your system will be fine for the first one. Thats how I started. Give it a bit of time, read the sticky whan it comes out, and you will have more info than you ever thought you wanted. And within 6 months of having it all, you will be posting like us, using phrases like "Forst, I used GC Wash, clay, #83, #80, then #7, then I used #21, and then I applied the Nattys Red with my PC as the LSP, then topped it with a mist of 4 Star UGE, then did the 303 AP on the trim. After that, I used Stoners IG and some P-X where needed. S-X wasnt necessary b/c I used #83, though..." etc... (Confused yet? )

Give it time, Grasshoppa. Have much to learn.

Local pro? He ain't local. Just frequent visits to Johnny's BBQ to get a refresher course on a light switch.
