Which clay to buy?

Does anyone have any experience with Quik Clay Detailing System from Meguiar's? What other clay would you recommend? I am using it on black paint.

The Mother's is a pretty good clay that's relatively easy to find. I've gotten it at pepboys before and seen it at other automotive stores.

The new white clay in the Meguiar's kit is actually pretty nice. I like it better than their old clay kit. The Mothers clay bar that Intel mentioned is also very good.

To be honest, I don't find a lot of differences between clay bars.

I just got done using Meguiar's Quik Clay on my black F150 this weekend. I posted on here a couple weeks ago, "Best for Black" and that sounds a little like your situation. It worked okay as far as I could tell, I know it removed some compounds from my paint, as it had brown streaks in the white clay when I was done. It was easier to do than I expected....Simple, just use the detailer spray that comes with it and rub the clay on the paint.

Then I used Meguiar's #9 and a coat of NXT.

Important note...

When the clay starts to show any discoloration, knead the clay like you're kneading bread dough. This, in turn, will give you a fresh surface on the clay and allow you to do a better job with the contamination removal.

Mothers user here. I like it. Plus, the showtime spray smells like cinnimon! Yummy!

I'm thinking about switching to play-doh. It looks and feels the same.

What could it possibly do? Perhaps model clay would be a better choice, as play-doh is pretty soft. I'll go to the arts&crafts places to squeeeeeze the clay to find a good match.

I used "Clay Magic" and it did an excellent job. Amazing what that stuff gets off. The only problem is that I could not find clay magic or any other clay bars in any local auto parts store. Also, my clay magic did not come with spray lubricant. I didn't need it anyway, I used a fresh batch of car wash solution as the lube.
APT suggested this in an old thread.
